I started in geology, which taught me to look past the surface to the structure underneath. I approach software the same way today.
My undergraduate research took me through the whole process: collecting rock samples in the field, analyzing data using Python, and presenting the findings at the American Geophysical Union's annual meeting. I've been hooked on process design and systems thinking ever since.
From there I spent three and a half years at Esri, working directly with state government and enterprise customers on their hardest technical problems: tracing network traffic to find root causes, and helping them write and fix Python and JavaScript built on the ArcGIS APIs.
Next, I led full-stack development at an AI chatbot startup, taking the product from first commit to pilot customers. I designed its serverless RAG architecture on AWS, added guardrails to keep answers reliable, and defined the entire stack as code in Terraform.
Today I run intuitivEarth, where I turn complicated operations into simple, reliable software, both in my own products and for startups that need systems that are simpler to run and built to scale.
